Togo looking very macho with his chain.
We're getting him used to having it around his neck, so that he doesn't kick up a fuss when we start chaining him up soon. I would rather not chain him up, but it's a necessary evil, especially when we intend to take him along for overnight stays in other people's homes.

Togo with his new bling bling!
Hi Togo -
Thanks for adding me to your Blog list. You're now on my list too. Nice bling.

Hey pretty pup there! Just wanted to let you know, when you tie him out don't use a choke collar, use a regular buckle collar, otherwise you risk him choking himself. Also make sure you have a swivel so that the line does not twist up. Good luck!
Togo says:
Wassssuupp, dawgs!
Anon: Thanks for the tip. He has a buckle collar also, we will use that for chaining up, and the choker chain for going out. =)
Ditto the comment about not using a choke collar when chaining a dog. I have seen many dogs hang themself after the collar gets stuck on a fence or some other stationary object. Also, keep in mind that if you decide to chain the dog up, which I would highly recommend against as it makes dogs very aggressive, make sure there is not a chaining ban or restriction in that community. Many jurisdictions are waking up to the fact that chaining a dog is not only cruel but dangerous. Good luck! Togo is way cute and deserves better than a "tug-o" on the "chain-o" :))))
Togo lives in Malaysia. Most places ban dogs (like parks, etc..), not chaining dogs. Unfortunately this is a very cat country.
Hi-Woo Togo,
You look good in yur new collar. Mommy wanted me to pass on that she has used chain choke collars in the past on us Siberians & it has damaged our pretty neck fur. She has on collars for Juneau & me that are called Lupine collars, http://lupinepet.com/. She gets us the 3/4" combo collar which is a regular collar combined wif another section & ring that acts like a choke collar but it is made of heavy reinforced fabric. When you hook the lead to the choke collar part, it becomes a non-slip collar. This is good for training or walking, but not to be attached to a line & left alone outside. They come in a lot of patterns. She just ordered Juneau the next size up cuz he is growing.

Togo, woo are a beawootiful pup! Togo's humans, please if you absolutely must chain him, please, please check him frequently & don't leave him chained for long periods, huskies are very social, and really don't like being separated from their pack (You!), but even more don't like being left alone. If you look at it from his perspective, he'll wonder why he's being punished and banished from the pack...
Husky Hugs,
Bama & the River Hill Pack
We got Togo a lupine like collar too, but after purchasing it we found it's a bit too big for him now.
I can't bear to leave Togo alone too, but we have to once in a while. We keep him in his pen, unchained. There are times when we do need to chain him up, but you can be sure I'll be constantly checking! My poor baby Togo, all chained up.
I assume you are talking about chaining your dog up outside. This is not the life a dog wants. Chaining a dog is a terrible life for them. I don't believe that it is okay for any length of time. If you are not actively watching your dog, bad things can happen. You sound like you care about this dog but chaining him up is not okay. If he can't be in the house with you-he should be found a new home. It is a terrible thing to do to a dog you supposedly love.
I assume you are not a terribly nice person yourself, kristy.
I love my dog, thanks very much, which is why a chaining is sometimes needed. While we are welding the grill of his pen, and the gate is wide open, for example. Oh, right, better to let him be free and accidentally weld his curious nose, or have him run out and be a roadkill stat.
Thank you for your visit, but I suggest you go spread your love elsewhere. Togo does like people who are rude to his mommy.
I am a nice person. When I hear of dogs being chained, I get angry. I volunteer with Spay Neuter Kansas City in the Pet Assistance Program and we see dogs chained all the time. They are not happy dogs. There are many options rather than chaining. A fence, perhaps? A large pen, a trolley system, a dog run, an electrical fence, which I don't necessarily think is the best option either. So, while you are suggesting I "go spread my love elsewhere", I suggest you go spread your love to your dog and keep him off a chain!
Hi Angry Kristy,
Have you traveled outside of America before? Like, say, to Malaysia?
Wuuu, wuuu, wuuuuuu
(That's Togo laughing. And I thought activist type people are the sort to check their facts.)
togo's mum loves her dog.
I think there is a misunderstanding that the dog will be chained for an insane amount of time.
If you're chaining the dog for safety reasons, then I don't see why not if it's just for a while. Better a live happy dog who doesn't mind the chaining than a dead dog.
Generally,
muslim = dun like dog
dog not chained = going around licking everyone and everything = RIP
It's funny to have you call me "angry Kristy". Your language was just as angry as mine and yet, I am the angry one. And yes, I have traveled outside the US. I am not responding to any further communication. You got my message, whether or not you chain your dog is up to you. I was just telling you my thoughts since you put your life out on the internet.
Wuuuu, Kristy dowan play anymore. Haha.
The girl doesn't get it, no. It's not the 'advice', it's the holier-than-thou, self-righteous, I know better tone of voice. Ah well, I've got fodder for an 'angry' post. Haha.
I put Togo our on the internet, and miss-activist put her comment out on the internet too. Hoho.
Dun give up shark! Everyone likes ur blog.. don let one person stop u from writing. I love seeing Togo, and i know he is loved by u.
Anyway, dogs are animal. Animals are unpredictable. Chaining a dog for safety reason is reasonable.
Hello Angry Kristy,
I like your style, do you like my krusty spoons?
